Vinyl Wall Art - Vinyl Application Instructions

Lay your design on a flat surface and work out any separations that may have developed during shipping.

1. Tape the design in place on your wall.

Tip: The matte vinyl is designed to be removable for up to 2 years after application. Both the gloss and matte vinyl can be removed years after it's applied by warming it with a blow dryer and using a soft plastic tool to lift it off your wall.

2. Measure down from the ceiling or up from the floor to level the left and right arrows.

3. Lightly mark the points of the left and right arrows on your wall. Take down the design.

4. Place the design face up on a flat work surface and burnish the design to the transfer sheet to remove any separation that might have occurred during shipping.

Important: Apply the "back" color first on multi color designs that overlap. The layers will have number in the upper right-hand corner indicating the order they need to be applied ("1" first, "2" next, "3" last).

On designs that don't overlap it' usually best to apply the largest piece first.

5. Place the design face down on a flat work surface.

Tip: Because the matte vinyl is designed to be removable for up to 2 years after application the adhesive is not as tacky as the gloss. Because of this it takes a bit more patience to remove it from the backing paper. Take your time and work slowly.

Trick: If the vinyl doesn't release from the backing paper use a hobby knife blade or tweezers to pick the edge off the paper and roll it down on to the transfer sheet. Rolling the baking sheet tightly over on its self help it release and stick to the transfer sheet.

6. Starting from one of the upper corners carefully separate the paper backing from the transfer sheet by rolling the paper backing sheet over on its self at a 45 degree angle. If the design comes up with the backing sheet just roll it back down, burnish it again, and roll back the backing sheet again. If it continues to come up with the backing sheet pick the edge of the design with a hobby knife blade or tweezers and push it back on the transfer sheet.

7. Once the paper backing has been removed. Place the design back on your wall using the pencil marks to position it.

8. Burnish the design to the wall using a plastic putty knife, popsicle stick, or your fingers.

9. Working carefully, peel the transfer sheet back on its self starting with one of the upper corners. Walls with a rough texture will require more patience to separate the design from the transfer sheet. Work slowly, peeling back the transfer sheet a little bit at a time. If the design stays stuck to the transfer sheet roll it back against the wall and burnish it again. This step is easier with two people - one to roll back the transfer sheet while the other rubs the design on to the wall as it separates from the sheet.

Important: If you have a two or three color design make sure the alignment arrows also transfer to your wall. You’ll use these arrows to align the other colors.

10. Use a blow dryer on high heat about 6” away from the wall to warm a small section of the design. Rub the design down with your finger tips.

Hint: Blow drying the vinyl is an important step to properly apply your design and give it a professional, painted-on look. With a little patience the vinyl will conform to most heavy spray-on wall textures.

Continue for 2-Color and 3-Color designs.

10. Remove the backing sheet from the 2nd color as instructed above.

11. Place the horizontal alignment arrows over first color arrows already on the wall.

12. Burnish the 2nd color to the wall.

13. Remove the transfer sheet leaving the design on the wall.

14. Rub down with your finger tips and blow dry as described above.

15. Repeat for 3rd color (if needed).

Congratulations, you're finished! Your vinyl design should stay affixed to your wall for years to come.

When you're ready to remove your design just warm it with a blow dryer and carefully peel it from the wall.

The matte vinyl uses a removable adhesive that is designed to release up to 2 years after it's applied. Both the gloss and matte vinyl can be removed years after it's applied by warming it with a blow dryer and using a soft plastic tool to lift it off your wall.
